This project will serve as the focal point of recreation for the 1,000 acre Wilderness Trail resort development, in Newland, North Carolina. The complex will feature tennis courts, a racquetball and squash center, a lawn and playground and an outdoor climbing tower, all gathered around the recreation center. Enclosed within the center is a large outdoor swim area, with a lap pool, a grotto and plunge pool, and cabanas. The recreation building features a large central lounge area, a workout area, locker room facilities, a café, a spa, separate children and teen centers, administrative offices, and a POA headquarters. By employing site sensitive design and an architectural vocabulary of wood, stone, and glass, the complex will be thoughtfully integrated into its natural setting.
The Lodge, inspired by the great National Park Lodges of the West, is the focal point of the 1,000 acre Wilderness Trail resort. Overlooking the eighteen-hole golf course and mountain vistas beyond, this building features a grand hall, formal and casual dining facilities, a golf clubhouse, a media center, a spa and outdoor pool, various living and overnight accommodations, outdoor terraces, and a parking garage. As the flagship structure for Wilderness Trail, the Lodge will set the standard for all other construction in the resort, as well as for other future developments.
