bower house

Perched over downtown Asheville, broad expanses of glass flood the house with daylight, and frame the surrounding view, acting as a threshold between one world and another. Massive stone fireplaces, both rustic and modern, provide warmth on cold winter days. Generous, reclaimed-timber roofs, some clad in metal and others covered in plantings, offer shelter and shade, as well as, collect rainwater. Custom wood, steel, and tile details throughout the house display the history of unique craftsmanship in the North Carolina Mountains. Yet "Mountain Modern" characterizes this progressive home while the super-insulated roofs, walls, and ceilings, energy efficient appliances, and the rainwater collection system all push this NC Healthy built home towards sustainable design.
